Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed
Psalm 25 from the daily reading in the One Year Bible
To You, Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 My God, in You I trust,
Do not let me be ashamed;
Do not let my enemies rejoice over me.
3 Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
[Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
4 Make me know Your ways, Lord;
Teach
me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For
You I wait all the day.
6 Remember, Lord, Your compassion and Your faithfulness,
For they have been from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoings;
Remember
me according to Your faithfulness,
For Your goodness’ sake, Lord.
8 The Lord is good and upright;
Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in justice,
And He teaches the humble His way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are faithfulness and truth
To those who comply with His covenant
and His testimonies.
11 For the sake of Your name, Lord,
Forgive
my wrongdoing, for it is great.
12 Who is the person who fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
13 His soul will dwell in prosperity,
And his descendants will inherit the land.
14 The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him,
[And He will make them know His covenant.
15 My eyes are continually toward the Lord,
For He will rescue
my feet from the net.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
For
I am lonely and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses.
18 Look at my misery and my trouble,
And forgive all my sins.
19 Look
at my enemies, for they are many,
And they hate me with violent hatred.
20 Guard my soul and save me;
Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.
21 Let integrity and uprightness protect me,
For I
wait for You.
22 Redeem Israel, God,
From all his distress.
The psalmist says: To You, Lord, I lift up my soul. My God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies rejoice over me. Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. In Luke 9:24-26, Jesus tells us of another group who will be ashamed: “Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, this is the one who will save it. For what good does it do a person if he gains the whole world, but loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and the glory of the Father and the holy angels.” In the end, those who value and take pride in the material things of the world, in greed and power, will know the shame of not being found in Christ. Conversely, in Matthew 6:33 Jesus says: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.” Philippians 4:19 says: My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. When we trust in the Lord and seek His righteousness, we will not be ashamed, and we will have all that we need.
The psalmist says: Make me know Your ways, Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day. In Jeremiah 29:11-14 God says: I know the plans that I have for you, plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will let Myself be found by you. If we seek Him, He will reveal Himself and His plans for us. In Matthew 11:28-29 Jesus says: “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” If we want to know His path, we need only to walk and work with Him.
The psalmist says: Remember, Lord, Your compassion and Your faithfulness, For they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoings; Remember me according to Your faithfulness, For Your goodness’ sake, Lord. The Lord is good and upright; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. All the paths of the Lord are faithfulness and truth To those who comply with His covenant and His testimonies. For the sake of Your name, Lord, Forgive my wrongdoing, for it is great. 1 John 1:5-10 says: God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. God is faithful to forgive and forget our sins, if we confess them and walk in the Light. All the paths of the Lord are faithfulness and truth To those who comply with His covenant and His testimonies. If we presume on God’s forgiveness and say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves.
The psalmist says: My eyes
are continually toward the Lord, For He will rescue
my feet from the net. Turn to me and be gracious to me, For I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses. Look at my misery and my trouble,
And forgive all my sins. Look at my enemies, for they are many, And they hate me with
violent hatred. Guard my soul and save me; Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You. In truth, if we will continually look toward the Lord, our greatest enemies,
fear and doubt will already be defeated. Romans 8:31-39 says: If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all,
how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring charges against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, but rather, was raised, who
is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Just
as it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We were regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer
through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to
separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I wait for You. Amen.
