I will praise the Lord while I live

Psalm 146 from the daily reading in the One Year Bible

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, my soul!
I will praise the Lord while I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Do not trust in noblemen,
In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.
His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;
On that very day his plans perish.
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
Who made heaven and earth,
The sea and everything that is in them;
Who keeps faith forever;
Who executes justice for the oppressed;
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.

The Lord opens the eyes of those who are blind;
The Lord raises up those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over strangers;
He supports the fatherless and the widow,
But He thwarts the way of the wicked.
10 The Lord will reign forever,
Your God, Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!

The psalmist says: Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Do not trust in noblemen, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; On that very day his plans perish.   There are many people today who put their trust in many things other than God. They trust in human institutions, in human knowledge and understanding. Like the psalmist I will both trust in and praise the Lord while I live. In Him I have salvation; I have eternal life after this life is done. The psalmist says: Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea and everything that is in them; Who keeps faith forever.  The human understanding that many people count on changes continually, day by day. God is faithful. He not only created the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them, He also has maintained their balance all these years, so that we can live. If He has watched over all of creation for all this time, surely I can trust that He will also maintain and sustain me according to His will.  In John 10:10 Jesus says: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.”  Many of the human institutions speak and seek not to help us, but rather to control or even kill and destroy us. Part of the abundance of life that Christ gives, is that knowing and trusting Him, there is no need to worry about what will come in and from this world. In John 16:33 Jesus says: These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”   Romans 8:31;35-39 says: If God is for us, who is against us?... Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. On the cross Jesus said: “It is finished!” (John 19:30) He fully accomplished all that we need and overcame everything that could come against us.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God… Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of those who are blind; The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. The Lord will reign forever, Your God, Zion, to all generations. Praise the LordAmen. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, my soul! I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.  Amen.
