“There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known”

A reflection on our times from Matthew 10:16-36

We are seeing a time of division in this nation that exceeds what any of us have seen in our lifetime. The polarization and division is often compared to what this country experienced during the civil war, when members of families were divided and fought to the death against relatives neighbors and friends. That we would see such division should not shock or surprise us, even though it is tragic that we have fallen that far. We can only hope that in this time, what Jesus says in Matthew 10:26 will come to pass.  “There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known”  It seems as though there are few if any who will reveal the lies and deception being perpetrated against our nation. Our society and culture has determined that truth is relative and changes according to the whims of the culture.  God on the other hand, never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. In Isaiah 5:20 He says: Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!   In Isaiah 55:11 He says:  So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.   We can take God at His word. He will do what He said He would do.  We then can be certain that what Jesus said, “There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known,” will come to pass and there will be Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Look though at the context of what Jesus said. In Matthew 10:16-36 Jesus says:  “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues; and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved. But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes. A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household! Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops. Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.”

What God has said He will do. What is revealed in His word will come to pass. Whether the deception and lies which are being perpetrated against our nation will be fully exposed in our time or at the end of the age, we cannot be certain. We may indeed experience the division that Jesus speaks of, a division beyond what this nation has ever known. One thing Is certain, regardless of what the political, social and moral outcome is of and for this nation, Jesus remains forever on the throne. Pollsters and pundits may be surprised at the results, but the omniscient God of creation is never taken by surprise. Daniel 2:20-21 says:  Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding.   Take courage in Jesus words and respond in obedience to His exhortation:  Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ; precious Holy Spirit I take confidence in the truth that regardless of what happens in this nation and the world, You are in control. I am not ashamed to confess that You are my Lord and Savior, my King and my God. Your Spirit lives in me and I will yield to and submit to no one else. Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever.  Amen.
