Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

Psalm 100 from the daily reading in the One Year Bible

All Men Exhorted to Praise God.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations.

Hebrews 4:14-16 says:  Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.   We can indeed come boldly to the throne of grace, but it is not because we have earned the right or because we deserve it. It is because of grace that we come. Because of the grace by which we are saved we can come boldly to God’s throne seeking help in our time of need. So, when we come to the throne, even as we come boldly, we should come as the psalmist says, with thanksgiving and praise. We should enter into the presence of God thanking Him for the love and grace demonstrated in the cross. We should praise Him, the one who is worthy because He has made us worthy to be reconciled to Him. The psalmist says:   Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.
 How many today curse the name of the Lord rather than blessing His name? God is faithful and just to all generations. Romans 2:5-11 says:  Because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. There will betribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.   In Matthew 7:2 Jesus says:  “In the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.  Those who curse God and judge Him as unworthy of praise and thanksgiving will be judged by their own standard rather than by the standard of grace.

The psalmist says:  Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.  Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.   No one can say or claim that they made themselves. God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. In Jeremiah 1:5 God says:  “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”   All of creation is obedient to, praises and serves the Lord. The sun the moon and the stars all do what they were created to do. The birds sing their praise to God. Each creature was set apart by God to fulfill a specific purpose and gladly they do what they were created for. We too then should:  Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.  Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves.  We should:  Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ; precious Holy Spirit; You are God. Thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for Your faithfulness and justice; I bless Your name. Thank You that You set me apart and created me for a purpose. Regardless of whatever else You have created me to do, I will praise and serve You gladly.  Amen.
