A beauty tip from the Bible: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things

Romans 10:14-11:12 from the daily reading in the One Year Bible

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

16 However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”

19 But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation, By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”

20 And Isaiah is very bold and says, “I was found by those who did not seek Me,
I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”

21 But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

11 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel? “Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.” But what is the divine response to him? “I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened; just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, Eyes to see not and ears to hear not, Down to this very day.”

And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, And a stumbling block and a retribution to them. 10 “Let their eyes be darkened to see not,
And bend their backs forever.”

11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. 12 Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be!

In today’s text it says:  Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.   In Revelation 12:10-11 it says:   Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.    It is the testimony of believers regarding the blood of the lamb, it their or our words of Christ which leads to the faith to overcome the accusations of Satan, for those who hear.

The text today begins saying:   How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent?   It is a rhetorical question that Paul asks, how will they preach unless they are sent.   In Acts 1:8 Jesus says: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”    In Matthew 28:18-20 He says:   “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”   And in Mark 16:15 He says:  “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.   So, Jesus has sent His disciples, He has sent all of us to preach the gospel, to be His witnesses, empowered by the Holy Spirit, so that the world will hear; so that they will believe and call on the name of Jesus, that as we saw in Romans 10:13: "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.".

The text says:  Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”… But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”     We have been called, commissioned and commanded to preach and testify about Christ to the world. It is a beautiful thing in the sight of God when we are obedient to the call and the commission of Christ, when we are His witnesses and testify of the cross and redemption through the blood of the Lamb. We are called to make disciples, teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded. But as it says:  they did not all heed the good news.  They will not all believe and respond to our report and our testimony. The result, their response is not our responsibility. Jesus says we are to be His witnesses, in our own towns and regions and even to the remotest part of the earth, that what it says: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world,” would be true of us and through us.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ; precious Holy Spirit; thank You that through the obedience of others to be Your witnesses and share the good news of Christ and redemption through His blood, I have come to believe. Empower me, according to Your word, with the Holy Spirit, that I too would become Your witness and share the testimony of Christ. May I not be concerned with those who do not hear, but rather may my voice continue to go out into all the earth. I am blessed and in awe that it would be seen as beautiful in Your sight.     Amen.         .
