What's new?

What do you do when circumstances are overwhelming you? What do you do when everything you know and believe isn't enough? Each of us face these times in our lives and in these times we are changed.

The writer of Lamentations must have experienced times like these, he writes : Lamentations 3: 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. -   Great is your faithfulness. How often though ts that only our testimony after we have come out on the other side of our trial.

James 1:2-4 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. I shared in a previous post that I'm not fully there yet. But I am becoming more and more convinced that I need to be there. God has a way of causing us to repeat lessons we don't learn.

So while I can't truthfully say that I consider this trial joy. I do know that the testing of my faith is to produce endurance and perserverence in my life. It is meant to make me complete. Paul says in Romans 8:28-29  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren  Conformed to the image of His Son, that He(Christ) would be the first among many brethren.

Our trial then makes us a brother or sister of Christ. Yesterday we looked at the benefits we have as a child of God. So in the midst of our trial we have a choice to make. We can turn from God or we can run to Him. The work of being conformed to the image of Christ can be a painful process as layers of our carnal flesh are cut away. But I choose to go through that process in the arms of Abba Father. Safe and secure, thank you Daddy.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, thank you for this trial I am facing. Thank you because I know that you are using it to form me into all that you desire me to be. Thank you that you don't cause me to walk this path alone. You walk beside me and even more you wait for me on the other side, encouraging me and calling me to be more like you.  Thank you that your mercy and compassion fails not, it is new every day.
