All you need
Baked fresh daily...
Exudus 16:
Then they set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt. 2 The whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. 3 The sons of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction. 5 On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.” 6 So Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, “At evening you will know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt; 7 and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, for He hears your grumblings against the Lord; and what are we, that you grumble against us?”... and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14 When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground. 15 When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. 16 This is what the Lord has commanded, ‘Gather of it every man as much as he should eat; you shall take an omer apiece according to the number of persons each of you has in his tent.’” 17 The sons of Israel did so, and some gathered much and some little. 18 When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat. 19 Moses said to them, “Let no man leave any of it until morning.” 20 But they did not listen to Moses, and some left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them. 21 They gathered it morning by morning, every man as much as he should eat; but when the sun grew hot, it would melt.
God says in verse 4 that His reason for providing the manna for them each day was to test them to see if they would follow His instruction. The nation of Israel had just come out of a long period of captivity in Egypt. Everything they did there had been controled by the Egyptians. God wanted the Israelites to learn to trust and follow Him. He could have provided a food source that lasted longer or He could have filled their pots with the provision each day.
In the same way that God wanted the Israelites to learn to trust Him for their daily provision, He wants us also to seek Him each day for provision and for a fresh revelation of who He is, just enough for that day. Jesus says in John 6:35 “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. When He taught His disciples to pray He said 'Give us this day our daily bread. This bread is more than something that fills our stomachs, it is Jesus Himself and the revelation of who He is for us for that day.
Just as the manna that was left over from one day to the next was no longer good for that day. We need a fresh word each day. It's not that God's word and revelation is no longer good, but rather that He knows what we will be faced with each day and wants to prepare us by revealing who He is, how His character will meet our need for the day.
Rather than grumble about the circumstances we find ourselves in we need to seek God and His provision for the day. Jeremiah 29:13 says: You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Philippians 4:19 says; my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. The provision for our need is a critical element. The manna was not the meat or other foods that the Israelites desired, it was what they needed, it provided all the nutrician to sustain them. In the same way God might not always give us everything we want, but He will supply for our every need. He will sustain us if we seek and trust Him each day.
In Matthew 6:25-34 Jesus offers us instruction on facing each day :
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28 And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
God gives us one day at a time becuse often that all we can handle. He will be faithful to meet our every need for this day. As we are faithful to seek Him.
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit thank you that you already know my need for this day. I come to your presence and read your word with a hunger and thirst to be satisfied. Give me manna for this day, fresh revelation of who You are and how You want to provide for this day.
